Who we are

Handler/Trainer

Dr Texa Sim is a LANTRA qualified Conservation Detection Dog Handler and a Search & Rescue Dog Association Scotland Handler/Trainer. She has extensive experience in training and handling dogs to undertake detection work in high pressure and time-critical situations. Holding a Doctorate in Marine Ecology, Texa brings the scientific process to dog training and handling, ensuring a thorough approach and requiring high standards from both herself and her dogs.

Texa is a Board member of the Ecology Detection Dog Working Group of the UK and Ireland, and undertakes regular Continuous Professional Development in the form of courses, qualifications, webinars and research to train and handle dogs to the highest standards.

The Dogs

The Dog Team is made up of well-rounded dogs who have a strong level of general obedience but also high drive to allow them to work with focus and energy during their detection activities. The dogs have been trained in detection work since they were puppies, and have undergone lengthy and intense training to develop their skills.

The dogs can be worked on or off-lead, and have received continuous wildlife and livestock avoidance training, making them safe to work around other animals.
