Bat Surveys
Bat mortality surveys at wind turbines are essential to protect bat populations from collision risks. Conservation Detection Dogs Scotland can offer this service as a stand-alone or to support other survey methods with efficient and accurate carcass searches.
Marine Invasive Species
Conservation Detection Dogs Scotland is developing the world’s first ecology detection dogs trained on two problematic marine invasive species: the carpet sea squirt (Didemnum vexillum) and the American slipper limpet (Crepidula fornicata). These species threaten native ecosystems, can rapidly smother and spread over infrastructure, and pose a risk to shellfish aquaculture.
The dogs are trained to operate in the inter-tidal zone, searching for, locating, and indicating the presence of these invasives.
Our dog handler team can support biosecurity surveys, confirm presence/absence on infrastructure or stock, or contribute to projects looking to control and manage already established populations.
Bespoke Support
We have capacity to help with other projects that may require rapid, cost-effective searches to locate target scents. All projects are different and require a unique approach, from training the detection dogs to survey design. Get in touch to see if we can help.
